Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Educators and teachers in Baden-Württemberg should be able to make appointments for a corona vaccination as early as Monday.

Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) said this to the SWR.

Lucha announced on Saturday that teachers would be grouped into the second priority level in the future.

People in this group between the ages of 18 and 64 are expected to be vaccinated from early or mid-March.

The earlier vaccination of educators is made possible above all by the wide availability of the vaccine from Astrazeneca.

This will now also be used in the country's vaccination centers, said Lucha.

By mid-March, Baden-Württemberg is to receive around 450,000 cans.

As a result, every person eligible for vaccination from the first priority level should be offered a vaccination appointment in the south-west.

With a view to the opening of primary schools and daycare centers, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the state ministers had commissioned Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to check whether primary school teachers and daycare teachers could be given higher priority for vaccinations.

For this, the Corona Vaccination Ordinance would have to be changed so that, according to the Federal Statistical Office, around one million people affected nationwide move from group three (higher priority) to group two (high priority).
