Woody Allen reacted to the release of a damning documentary for the American director, which he called a "demolition enterprise" "riddled with untruths", while again denying having sexually assaulted his adopted daughter.

Broadcast on the HBO channel and on the HBO Max platform since Sunday, the four-part documentary "Allen v. Farrow" implicates the director with a series of testimonies, some of which have never been seen.

Dylan Farrow, adopted daughter of actress Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, notably reaffirms that her adoptive father sexually assaulted her in August 1992 when she was 7 years old, which the director has always refuted.

"These documentary filmmakers weren't interested in the truth," Woody Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, wrote in a statement released by several US media.

"Instead, (...) they engaged in a demolition business, riddled with untruths."

"It has been common knowledge for decades that these accusations are completely false", continue the couple, who recall that neither of the two investigations carried out into these allegations led to prosecution.

"Even though this mediocre attack attracts attention, it does not change the facts," concluded the couple, who say they were contacted less than two months before the broadcast, "to respond".

"They naturally declined," the statement said.

Since the end of 2017 and the publication of a column by Dylan Farrow, many actors and actresses have distanced themselves from the director.

In 2019, the Amazon platform broke its production and distribution contract with the director, which covered four films.
