Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The free distribution of six FFP2 masks to every household in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be delayed.

The onset of winter had an impact on the logistics chain, said the Schwerin State Chancellery on Monday at a dpa request.

It was initially unclear by how many days the distribution would be delayed.

In the districts of Vorpommern-Greifswald and Mecklenburg Lake District, all masks have already been distributed.

The campaign is currently running in the districts of Ludwigslust-Parchim, Northwest Mecklenburg, Rostock and the two independent cities of Rostock and Schwerin.

It should start soon in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen.

There, the corona incidence value, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, is the lowest in a nationwide comparison.

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced the supply of the masks a few weeks ago.

5.2 million FFP2 masks are to be distributed to the population, which cost around 2.8 million euros.
