Dortmund (dpa) - The German Football League (DFL) has imposed a fine on Borussia Dortmund for violating Corona regulations after the Revier derby at FC Schalke 04 (4-0).

The Bundesliga team announced that they would accept the fine of 75,000 euros.

"Borussia Dortmund had already apologized for the behavior of some players sitting in the bus and fans celebrating in front of the training area on Sunday morning," wrote the club.

In front of the Dortmund training ground, there was a gathering of larger fan groups on Saturday evening after the team returned from Gelsenkirchen.

Players also celebrated on the bus without masks and filmed it.

“There is no question that the 'Revierderby' is a special game.

Nevertheless, the club is responsible for checking and monitoring compliance with the rules, ”said a DFL announcement.

Dortmund's managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke had defended the cheers, but at the same time admitted mistakes.

"Just imagine, the team is going home after the triumph, the fans are cheering outside and our players are sitting like wax figures without facial expressions and gestures inside the bus," the 61-year-old told Sport1.

"But we all have to obey the rules!"
