February 22, 2021 "Tomorrow morning I will sign an ordinance which provides for the closure of schools of all levels for the districts of Ventimiglia and Sanremo from Wednesday 24 February to Friday 5 March".

This was announced by the president of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, during the evening press point on the Covid emergency.

"For the Ventimiglia district alone - added Toti - there will also be a ban on takeaways presumably after 6pm, a ban on the sale of alcohol in the evening, an absolute ban on gatherings and a ban on moving from your own municipality".

"After speaking with Minister Speranza and having already notified the mayors of the area - explained the Ligurian governor - we decided to take some measures to ensure the control of an incidence that, especially in the city of Ventimiglia and in the municipalities immediately neighboring areas, arouses some concern, being more than double what we record in the rest of Liguria ".

"With these measures - Toti stressed - we believe we can" cool down "a pandemic peak which, if prolonged, could lead to a series of problems for ASL 1. Obviously - he concluded - refreshments are planned".
