The seven departments of the Mediterranean arc were placed by Météo France on yellow vigilance, until Tuesday at 6 a.m.: the Alpes-Maritimes, the Var and the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Gard, the Hérault, the Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales, for risks of strong wind, waves and submersion.

The departments of the former Languedoc-Roussillon could also be targeted by heavy rains, floods and floods.

Météo France announces a "moderate Mediterranean episode" in Languedoc-Roussillon this Monday.

The rains are expected to persist throughout the day.

They will sometimes take on a stormy character, with significant accumulations, from the plains of Roussillon to Haut-Languedoc and the Cévennes and on the heights of the Pyrénées-Orientales.

A Mediterranean episode "important for the season"

For its part, Météo Languedoc forecasts 150 to 200 mm of rain in the Hérault region, and accumulations of around 30 to 50 mm between the Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales.

At the Spanish border, it should fall up to 100 mm of rain on Monday.

On the Cévennes, the weather information site indicates that the accumulation could exceed 100 mm.

“This episode promises to be important for the season,” say meteorologists.

This disturbed weather will be accompanied by a strong easterly wind over the entire Mediterranean coast, from the Corsican capes to the Provençal coasts and Languedoc-Roussillon with gusts of 90 to 110 km / h on the coast of Paca, 70 to 90 km / h from Lauragais to the relief of Auvergne and in the interior of Provence.

The sea will become very rough.

The wind will ease in the evening, and the rains in Languedoc-Roussillon will become weaker at the end of the night.
