Bonn (dpa / lnw) - In view of the sunny weather and the many day-trippers despite the Corona restrictions, cities want to control popular leisure locations more closely.

In Bonn it was said on Monday that the security service had the banks of the Rhine, the Rheinaue Park and other popular excursion destinations in view.

In the neighboring Siebengebirge, the parking lots were completely overcrowded at the weekend and the access roads were blocked.

"The security service has properly distributed tickets," reported a spokesman for the city of Koenigswinter.

People wanted to get some fresh air, that was understandable.

The situation is being closely monitored.

The city of Dortmund evaluated the weekend's events on Monday.

The police had reported "massive traffic chaos" around Lake Phoenix and blocked several streets around the local recreation area.

As regards possible future measures to protect the many day-trippers from corona, it is important to "maintain a sense of proportion," said a city spokesman.

Last spring, a one-way street regulation for strollers was introduced for a time.

Looking back on the weekend, however, one is satisfied with the mutual respect shown by the many excursionists.

The German Association of Cities announced increased controls of the corona rules in view of the spring-like weather.

“We are currently seeing that the number of infections is rising again and we have to be very careful.

If we get careless, we gamble away the successes of the past weeks, ”said Helmut Dedy, managing director of the German Association of Cities, the“ Rheinische Post ”(Tuesday).

"Where necessary, cities will therefore increasingly control popular public spaces."
