22 February 2021 Tragedy in Cortesano, in the Maso Saracini area, a small town a few kilometers from Trento.

A 39-year-old farmer, Lorenzo Cattoni, killed his ex-wife, Deborah Saltori, 42, apparently using a hatchet and hitting her in the carotid artery.

The femicide took place in the countryside where the man was working after which, the farmer attempted suicide.

The alarm was raised by a passerby who noticed the body of the dying man on the ground.

Now the 39-year-old is hospitalized in serious condition intubated at the Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento.

The man was under house arrest at his parents' home in Nave San Rocco, about 15 kilometers from Trento, but he could be absent to work.

He had already been warned by the Trento Police Commissioner twice for domestic violence, including against a previous partner.

Only a few months ago Cattoni had been arrested by the Mobile Squad of the Trento Police Headquarters because in the last four years - the investigators verified - he had repeatedly beaten and harassed, physically and psychologically his partner, mother of four minor children, of which three had from a previous relationship.

The surveys are still ongoing.

On the spot there are the agents of the Flying Squad coordinated by Deputy Commissioner Tommaso Niglio and the prosecutor Carmine Russo.
