Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - According to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the recent weak phase of FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga is also related to the high level of stress.

"The whole season is exhausting, we play every third day, the players are of course used," said Rummenigge on Saturday evening in the "Current Sports Studio" of the ZDF.

After winning the Club World Cup in Qatar, the German soccer champions only scored one point from two Bundesliga games, but remain leaders.

Rummenigge sees a problem for Munich this season in the fact that "we are sometimes too inconsistent, we sometimes save ourselves the last meter."

This then often leads to residues.

"Then of course it will be demanding," said the CEO.

With a view to the Bundesliga, Rummenigge suffers with the bottom of the table, FC Schalke 04, for whom relegation after the 0: 4 in the Revierderby against Borussia Dortmund is getting closer.

«Of course it is getting more and more difficult.

I have to honestly say, I feel a little sorry for the Schalke guys, "said Rummenigge, who comes from Lippstadt.

"Relegation would be a drama for the club and the region."

Rummenigge, however, cannot understand the criticism of coach Marco Rose from Borussia Mönchengladbach because of his decision to move to BVB.

"Sometimes we have to be a little less agitated with these things," demanded the Bayern boss.

"It is part of our business that players or coaches change clubs."
