Rostock (dpa / mv) - One week after the serious rail accident near Altheide (Vorpommern-Rügen district), the Rostock - Stralsund railway line is to be opened again as planned from Monday.

According to the current status of the repair work, the date (4:00 a.m.) can be held, said a railway spokesman on Sunday.

In the accident last Monday, a 34-passenger regional train collided with a wooden truck at a level crossing.

The unloaded truck got stuck and the train couldn't brake in time.

Three travelers and the train driver were injured.

The damage was estimated by the police at around half a million euros.

Extensive repair work on the tracks and technology was necessary.

All long-distance trains between Hamburg and Ostseebad Binz / Stralsund were canceled last week.

A very limited replacement bus service was set up.
