The Algerian Ministry of Defense denied reports circulating about the army’s participation in military operations under the umbrella of foreign forces in the Sahel region, blaming Morocco for promoting this "false news."

The ministry stated in a statement that reports alleging the participation of Algerian forces in operations within the Group of Five Sahel countries are false and unacceptable.

"Some parties and the mouths of sedition have circulated through their inflammatory electronic pages false news that the military establishment relies on its internal and external activities and operations on agendas and orders issued by foreign bodies," the statement said.

The statement added that the promoters of this propaganda have malicious intentions, with the illusion of fomenting chaos and destabilization in Algeria.

In its statement, the ministry affirmed that the Algerian army will not submit its movements except to the authority of the President of the Republic and in accordance with his constitutional duties and the country's laws.

Those responsible

The ministry described the circulating news as "propaganda that can only be issued by ignorant people working under orders from the interests of the Moroccan Makhzen system and Zionism."

She added, "It reassures the national public opinion that the People's National Army, a descendant of the National Liberation Army, has not and will not submit in its activities and movements except to the authority of the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Minister of National Defense, and in accordance with his clear constitutional duties and the laws of the republic, in defense of the national sovereignty, unity and security of the country."

The ministry affirmed that "the participation of the People's National Army outside the borders of the country is determined by the will of the people, in accordance with what is stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic."

And media outlets reported that the Algerian army would participate in operations on the coast under the command of the French army, and they attributed this to French President Emmanuel Macron.
