Algerian President Abdemadjid Tebboune proceeded Sunday February 21 to a partial reshuffle of his government, but without major team change.

He also dissolved the National People's Congress, the lower house of parliament, paving the way for early parliamentary elections within six months.

The Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, however criticized, remains in his post as well as the holders of the royal ministries, according to the list published by the Presidency of the Republic.

Are starting the Minister of Energy, Abdelamadjid Attar, and his colleague from Industry, Ferhat Aït Ali, much criticized for his management of the issue of the revival of the automotive industry.

The ministers of Water Resources, Tourism, Environment and Public Works are also leaving the government.

On the other hand, the Minister of Justice, Belkacem Zeghmati, symbol of the judicial repression against the opposition and the Hirak militants, keeps his portfolio, as the Minister of Communication and government spokesman Ammar Belhimer, who has the hand over the media.

Dissolution of the National Assembly

Abdemadjid Tebboune had previously dissolved the National People's Assembly (APN), the lower house of parliament, paving the way for early parliamentary elections within six months.

No date has yet been set for the poll.

But the political class is counting on the month of June.

In a keynote speech to the nation, the Head of State announced Thursday evening the dissolution of the lower house of Parliament and the organization of early legislative elections.

To respond to the street, the Algerian president also decreed Thursday a presidential pardon in favor of about

sixty opinion detainees

, a gesture of appeasement addressed to the popular protest movement of Hirak.

Since then, nearly 40 prisoners have been released.
