More than 200 million doses of anti-Covid vaccines have been administered in at least 107 countries or territories, including 45% in the rich G7 countries, according to an AFP report on Saturday.

At 10 a.m. GMT, at least 201,042,149 doses had been administered worldwide, according to a count made by AFP from official sources.

This figure is however underestimated, because two large countries, China and Russia, have not communicated new data for ten days.

Some 45% of the injections were carried out in the countries of the G7, which however host only 10% of the world population.

Its seven members (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan) made commitments on Friday in favor of a better distribution of doses with poor countries.

They announced more than doubling their collective support for anti-Covid vaccination, to 7.5 billion dollars, in particular via the UN Covax program, led by the World Health Organization (WHO).

To date, more than nine out of ten doses (92%) have been administered in "high" or "upper middle" income countries (as defined by the World Bank, which only concentrate a large half of the dose. the world population (53%) Of the 29 "low" income countries, only Guinea and Rwanda have started to vaccinate.

Israel is by far the most advanced country, with almost half (49%) of its population having received at least one injection.

One in three Israelis (33%) even received the second dose, completing the vaccination process.

Other countries that have passed the 10% mark of the population having received at least one dose include the United Kingdom (25%), Bahrain (16%), the United States (13%), Chile (12 %), Seychelles (43%) and Maldives (12%).

In view of the number of doses administered in the United Arab Emirates, between 25% and 50% of its population has received at least one injection, but the country does not communicate a more precise figure on the number of people concerned.

In absolute terms, the United States is leading the way, with 59.6 million doses administered, ahead of China (40.5 million as of February 9), the United Kingdom (17.5 million), India (10.7 million) and Israel (7.1 million).
