Erfurt / Apolda (dpa / th) - Sun rays and temperatures in the double-digit plus range lured people outside in many places in Thuringia on Saturday.

Erfurt's city center was well attended in the afternoon, although many of the shops that are usually used for Saturday shopping were closed due to the lockdown.

Many people had a take-away coffee in the sun.

Others were already licking ice cream with a mouth and nose covering under their chin.

Small queues had even formed in front of individual ice cream parlors in the state capital.

Of the masses of snow that had dominated the cityscape at the beginning of the week, only dirty hills in shady areas were left.

In addition, grilled goods were so popular with some butchers that sausages were hardly available on Saturday.

Brätel and other grill classics had been in great demand all week, said a butcher in Apolda.
