Dortmund (AP) - Shot putter Christina Schwanitz has won her sixth indoor title at German athletics championships.

The 35-year-old from LV 90 Erzgebirge prevailed on Saturday in Dortmund with 18.87 meters.

The 2015 world champion fell short of her season best of 19.11 meters, but is still a medal contender for the European Indoor Championships in two weeks in Torun, Poland.

Sara Gambetta (Halle / Saale) was second with a clear gap behind Schwanitz with 18.06 meters.

The title fights in the Rudolf-Körnig-Halle take place under strict hygiene measures and without spectators.

There are a total of 250 participants over the weekend.
