February 25.

Thursday.

It is the date marked in red in La Moncloa.

Once the acid test of the Catalan elections has passed, the next objective of the socialist wing of the Government is to renew the General Council of the Judicial Power (CGPJ) and, simultaneously, the Council of RTVE, the Constitutional Court or the Ombudsman, as well as two vacancies of the Transparency Council.

February 25.

That day the election of the members of the Board of Directors of the RTVE Corporation arrives at the Congress of Deputies.

By then, Pedro Sánchez's environment would like to have the global agreement cleared.

It is the day in which it is necessary to "put the focus", they point out in Moncloa, where they acknowledge that they would like to kill those two birds with one stone: to unblock the appointments of the CGPJ and those of the public communication body.

In the case of the Ombudsman, there is no doubt: the chosen one is Ángel Gabilondo, who would cease to be the leader of the PSOE in the Community of Madrid.

In the PP they do not see it as easy to close it in a week, but they recognize that now the pact is more likely than before.

"It is almost closed", assures a position of the PP.

All that remains is for the Socialists to make a "gesture": to leave United Podemos out of the negotiations.

Which they would be willing to do in Moncloa, in the middle of the cold war with their government coalition partners, after the purple ones did not vote in favor of the Equal Treatment Law and completely distanced themselves from the socialist ministers in their response to the street riots of the last days.

This "requirement" is essential for Genoa, where it is discounted since the PSOE will reverse the processing in Congress of the law to reform the Judiciary so that this body cannot make appointments when it is in office.

That was the second requirement, and although La Moncloa assures that they will not back down until there is an agreement, it is considered "salvageable."

Pragmatism also reigns in the PP.

Casado's team is aware that "institutionally we have to do it and we are going to do it."

In other words, they will renew "sooner rather than later", but they need Sánchez to be the one to take the first step, since, deep down, Casado "has less to lose," as another of the popular sources consulted underlines.
