Opponents of the Corona measures demonstrated against the restriction of fundamental rights with a car parade around the Outer Alster in Hamburg on Saturday.

According to the police, so-called lateral thinkers took part in the demonstration with up to 220 vehicles.

Slogans such as “breathe freely - think freely” or “basic rights instead of vaccination rights” could be read on the cars.

The "freedom drivers" want to vent their displeasure with the government's handling of the corona virus.

The parade on Saturday was blocked several times by counter-demonstrators with bicycles.

The police stepped in and arrested at least one of the around 70 cyclists for assault and dangerous interference in road traffic.

The black-clad counter-demonstrators were reportedly part of the left-wing scene.

A sign on one of the bicycles read: "You too are dying of the virus".

During the demonstration, there were temporary road blocks around the Inner and Outer Alster.

According to the police, the districts of St. Pauli, Neustadt, Altstadt, St. Georg, Hohenfelde, Uhlenhorst, Barmbek-Süd, Winterhude, Eppendorf, Hoheluft-Ost, Hoheluft-West, Eimsbüttel, Sternschanze and Rotherbaum were affected.

Nationwide, people repeatedly take to the streets against the corona measures.

The convoy on Saturday was not the first in Hamburg.

The "freedom drivers" had already gathered in Hamburg at the end of January and the beginning of February and in some cases caused considerable traffic disruption.
