Erfurt / Gera (dpa / th) - According to police estimates, between 140 and 170 people have gathered on Erfurt Domplatz to demonstrate against the Corona measures.

According to the city administration, the registrant was the alliance “lateral thinking 361 Erfurt” - a local branch of the controversial “lateral thinker” movement.

As a precaution, the Domplatz had been cordoned off with bars to ensure that no more than the originally registered 500 participants could enter the square when there was a large police presence.

The meeting has been peaceful so far, said a police spokeswoman on Saturday afternoon.

In Gera, too, opponents of the corona policy took to the streets on Saturday.

About 300 people walked there in a "silent march" through the city center, as a spokesman for the state operations center of the Thuringian police said.

In the meantime, some participants had behaved aggressively to the police officers on site, but the situation then relaxed again.
