February 20, 2021 85% of the cases diagnosed in Italy since the beginning of the pandemic have been diagnosed in 10 regions: Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Campania, Piedmont, Lazio, Sicily, Tuscany, Puglia and Liguria.

Eight regions (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Marche, Abruzzo, PA Bolzano, Umbria, Sardinia, Calabria and PA Trento) reported between 30,000 and 70,000 cases;

three regions / PA (Basilicata, Valle d'Aosta and Molise) reported less than 15,000 cases each.

This is certified by the 'extended report' published by the ISS.

The number of cases indicated refers to the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants. The institute underlines that, due to the large number of the population, the autonomous province of Trento and the Valle d'Aosta region, while reporting a less consistent number of cases, have a particularly high cumulative incidence (number of total cases reported / resident population) with values similar to those reported by Lombardy and Veneto.
