Berlin (dpa) - Eintracht Frankfurt has continued its super series against FC Bayern Munich and brought new tension to the Bundesliga title fight.

The Hessians remained unbeaten in the eleventh game in a row in the 2-1 (2-0) against the weakened club world champion.

With a win on Sunday (3:30 p.m.) at Hertha BSC, RB Leipzig can move up to two points on Bayern.

The Frankfurters, who had caused coach Niko Kovac to lose their coach Niko Kovac by beating Munich 5-1 in the preseason, took another step towards their first Champions League participation through their success.

With 42 points, coach Adi Hütter's team caught up with VfL Wolfsburg, third in the table, with equal points.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, on the other hand, is nine points behind the places that grant access to the European premier class after the 1: 2 (1: 1) against FSV Mainz 05.

A few days after coach Marco Rose announced that he would be moving to Dortmund for the new season, it should remain uneasy around Borussia-Park.

Mainz, however, draws further hope in the relegation battle through the victory, until the relegation place it is only one point.

1. FC Köln also have to worry after the 0-1 (0-0) against VfB Stuttgart.

In addition, SC Freiburg lost 1-0 (0-0) against 1. FC Union Berlin, who scored three points for the first time after five games without a win.

In Frankfurt, Bayern were, as on Monday, 3: 3 against Bielefeld at the break with 0: 2 behind.

Daichi Kamada (12th) and Amin Younes (31st) scored for the Frankfurt team, which is the only Bundesliga team to be unbeaten this year.

Robert Lewandowski only managed the connection goal (53rd).

It was the 26th goal of the season for the world footballer.

The many failures made themselves felt at Bayern.

Thomas Müller and Benjamin Pavard were absent due to a corona infection, Serge Gnabry and Corentin Tolisso are injured and Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez, who have just returned from a corona infection, were not yet an issue for the starting XI.

It was also turbulent in Gladbach.

As in the last few weeks, Mainz turned out to be an unpleasant opponent for the supposedly large teams.

Karim Onisiwo put the guests in the lead in the tenth minute.

Lars Stindl managed to equalize shortly afterwards (26th), after a penalty had been revoked after video evidence.

Kevin Stöger took care of the final Gladbach knockout four minutes before the end.

In Cologne, Sasa Kalajdzic (49th) made the VfB victory perfect.

For FC it was the seventh home defeat of the season.

At Union, Grischa Prömel (64th) was the match winner.
