- We see a higher inflow than usual, says Mari Rosengren who is a family counselor in Eskilstuna and Strängnäs.

During the first part of 2020, when the first corona restrictions were introduced, the family counselors within Vårdförbundet Sörmland, which also includes Flen, Katrineholm and Vingåker, noticed more cancellations.

Bookings are increasing again

- Now we see an increase again.

It is quite clear that the pandemic affects our relationships to a great extent.

We do not live as we normally do.

There will be stress and moreover, this is not something you have chosen yourself, says Mari Rosengren.

Last year, Vårdförbundet Sörmland chose to make the first visit to the family counseling service free of charge.

From now on, the investment is back.

- Yes, the decision has been made that it should be like this all year, says Pia Carlsson, union leader.

Can get tax exemption

The economy should not affect people seeking family counseling in any case.

- If someone turns to us who do not have the financial conditions, we can always make a decision on fee exemption.

The economy must not stop, says Mari Rosengren.

She says that there are tears when the whole family sits on each other's lap at home.

- I think it is important that you come to us before it is a total disaster.

You are of course welcome even then, but it can be important not to wait too long, says Mari Rosengren.

"Have a good time"

Is there anything to keep in mind during a pandemic?

- Remember to have a good time.

Try to bring in the laughter and joy and try to come up with something.

It is important to show appreciation for the other and to talk to each other.
