The recording of a rare description of the Iraqi Shiite cleric, Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, the father of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, sparked widespread controversy on social media, after Iraqis circulated it on their accounts, prompting al-Sadr to respond to him through his minister.

The registration for Sadr, the father, who was considered the most prominent religious authority for Shiites in Iraq in the 1990s, included a fatwa for his followers in the presence of his sons calling them to follow the mujtahid, and declared his innocence from his children in the event that they inherit him as religious references or engage in political work.

The talk about this registration comes at a time when Sadr is planning to run in the upcoming elections through the "Sairoun" coalition (which owes allegiance to Sadr), with the aim of achieving a parliamentary majority that qualifies him to be the prime minister of the coalition.

The Sadr movement had won 54 seats through the "Sairoun" coalition in the 2018 elections, compared to 32 in the 2014 elections. Saeron is the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament, which includes 329 seats.

In al-Sadr’s first response, Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, known as (Minister of Sadr), published in his accounts on social networking sites a justification for Sadr’s entry into the political process despite his father’s prevention of science students from entering politics, indicating that Muqtada al-Sadr’s father was obliging his students to sign a commitment pledge not to enter Politics, and his son Moqtada did not obligate it.

Al-Iraqi said that the father al-Sadr had already prevented this, but what is circulating now is a word of truth that is intended to be false, indicating that the situation in which Iraq is now living is like a jungle ruled by politicians and controlled by politics, and if the Sadrists did not enter politics, dogs would bite them, he said.

He pointed out that "those who spread this problem have been seduced by politics and parties."

The recording of the father al-Sadr provoked widespread Iraqi reactions on social media, and one of the most prominent preachers of the platforms of the Sadrist movement, Ali al-Talqani, wrote on his Twitter account, “Mr. Sadr was against the interference of the turban in political affairs, but against the idea that a student of religious sciences approach politics and power.”

The martyr al-Sadr (Qadah) was against the interference of the Turks in (political affairs).!

Rather, it is against the idea that a student of religious sciences approaches politics and power.!

That is not his job, and that the world of politics is a world of contamination, but rather a world of fluctuations and contradictions, and he can influence him and challenge his morals and condemnation.

Al-Taleqani explained that the father-in-law Al-Sadr thought that it was not the work of a student of knowledge to enter politics, and that the world of politics was a world that was polluted and it was a world of fluctuation and contradictions and that it could affect him and challenge his morals and condemnation.

A rare audio clip of Mr. Muhammad al-Sadr says I told my children that the marjaiya is not hereditary and not represented, and that they do not speak in my name after my death, and that they do not act with the reference, the hawza, and society as the children of the previous references, and if this happens, I am innocent of it.

Did Mr. Moqtada abide by the commandment and words of his father?

Or did he go against the commandment completely?

Commenting on the recording, the Kurdish political researcher Shaho Al-Qarah Daghi said that the father-Sadr told his children in the audio recording that the reference is not heredity, and he advised them not to speak in his name after his death and not to act as the children of the previous references, the hawza and society.

Shaho asked: Is Muqtada al-Sadr today considered to have abided by the commandment and words of his father, or did he go against the will ?!

For his part, the Iraqi activist Omar al-Janabi considered in a tweet to him on Twitter that the late Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr disavowed - in the audio recording - of his children "in their presence" in the event that they declared his inheritance as a Shiite reference, and also called on them to follow the mujtahids, usually a legal fatwa for his followers.

In a "rare" audio recording, in which the late Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, the father of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, disowned his children with "their presence" if they announced his inheritance as a Shiite reference.

And he calls for the followers of the mujtahids, considering that a Sharia fatwa to follow him.

Did Sadr disobey his father?
