Forchheim (dpa / lby) - A man in Upper Franconia suffered severe burns due to a deflagration in a trailer of a circus.

According to the police on Saturday, the 64-year-old had lit a gas heater in his caravan near Forchheim.

The trailer and an adjoining tent that housed animals went up in flames.

Circus workers brought the animals to safety.

The alarmed fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish the fire on the area.

The police suspect a technical defect in the heater as the cause of the fire.

The investigators estimated the damage after the fire on Friday evening to be at least 20,000 euros.
