The Taliban held the government responsible for some recent attacks in Afghanistan, while a senior government official called for a comprehensive ceasefire in the country.

A spokesman for the Taliban's political office, Muhammad Naeem, said the Afghan government was responsible for some of the recent attacks in the country.

Naim added in a previous interview with Al-Jazeera that the goal is for the foreign forces to remain, because the Kabul government has an interest in that.

The movement’s spokesman had called on the government to stop accusing the Taliban of being behind the attacks, and said that the movement was on the defensive.

On the other hand, Afghan National Security Adviser Hamdallah Moheb called for a comprehensive ceasefire in the country, and accused the Taliban of deliberately disrupting the path of peace negotiations in Doha.
