Nordhausen (dpa / th) - A 77-year-old driver was killed in an accident in the Eichsfeld district.
According to the police, the woman was on a country road near Heilbad Heiligenstadt on Thursday afternoon when she turned off the road in a curve to the right.
The car crashed into a tree - the driver was trapped.
Rescue workers freed the woman from the car.
Despite extensive resuscitation measures, the 77-year-old died at the scene of the accident from her serious injuries.
About an hour later and only a few kilometers further a second accident happened.
A 91-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle on a country road near Ecklingerode and drove into the ditch.
The driver and passenger were taken to hospital seriously injured.
