Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) is promoting that teachers and educators receive a corona vaccination ahead of time.

In a letter, he asked Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to examine the extent to which those from the third group of the vaccination sequence could already be vaccinated with the Astrazeneca preparation.

"This would also enable a faster vaccination of teachers and educators," says Woidke's letter from Thursday, which was available on Friday.

He also believes that vaccinations must be approved by general practitioners as soon as possible.

For this, the vaccination regulation must be changed.

According to Spahn's Corona Vaccination Ordinance, it is first over 80-year-olds, nursing home residents and nursing staff as well as medical staff with an increased risk of corona infection for protection.

In individual cases, the order can be deviated from so that no vaccine has to be destroyed.

For example, Brandenburg is already vaccinating police officers with an increased risk of infection through missions that are actually only in the second group with the vaccination.

The third group includes, among others, educators, teachers and employees of governments, the police and fire departments.
