Berlin (dpa / bb) - The construction industry has not suffered any major losses in the Corona crisis.

On the contrary: the companies in Berlin and Brandenburg can look back on a year of growth.

A turnover of 3.65 billion euros in Berlin's main construction trade corresponded to an increase of five percent, as the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office announced on Friday.

Compared to 2019, growth has accelerated;

the number of employees also increased.

In Brandenburg the trend was even stronger.

In 2020 there was an increase in sales of almost 21 percent to around 3.9 billion euros.

A look at the order books provides a different picture: while the inventory at the Brandenburg companies remained stable, the volume in Berlin fell by a good fifth.

Orders fell, especially towards the end of the year.

The statistics include information from companies with 20 or more employees.
