Potsdam (dpa / bb) - After an increase, the number of new corona infections in Brandenburg has fallen again.

The health authorities reported 289 new cases, the Ministry of Health announced in Potsdam on Friday.

On Thursday, 390 new infections were registered, a week ago there were 374. Most of the cases came with 32 in the Oberhavel district.

19 people died in connection with Covid 19 disease.

584 patients are currently being treated in hospitals for Covid-19 disease, compared with 678 a week ago.

The value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week is only falling gradually.

The Ministry gave the number on Friday at 66.5, after just under 68 on Thursday.

A week ago the value was almost 77 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week.

The federal and state governments have agreed that further easing should only be possible within a week if the value remains stable over several days and no more than 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

The so-called seven-day incidence is still highest in Prignitz with around 156, ahead of the Elbe-Elster district with almost 117. In the Spree-Neisse district, the number has fallen below the 100 mark again.

In Brandenburg there have been around 151,000 vaccinations against the coronavirus so far, including almost 67,000 second vaccinations.

With the vaccination quota - the percentage of vaccinations in the population - Brandenburg is 3.3 percent below the national average of 3.7 percent when it is first protected.

For the second vaccinations, Brandenburg ranks with a vaccination rate of 2.6 percent, well above the national average of 2.0 percent.
