Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Doctors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania administered about a quarter more flu vaccinations in the second half of 2020 than a year earlier.

During this period, around 465,000 people were vaccinated against the flu in 2020, as the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians announced in Schwerin on Friday.

The overwhelming share of about 330,000 vaccinations went back to the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Figures for the year as a whole were initially not available.

In view of the forecast higher delivery quantities of corona vaccine, it is urgently time that the country prepare for the vaccinations in the practices.

Thus vaccination offers closer to home could also be made.

Corona vaccinations are already being carried out in individual medical practices in the Northwest Mecklenburg district.

Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) had repeatedly advertised in recent months that people should be given a flu vaccination.

This means that the hospitals are better equipped to accept corona patients.
