Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - With concepts for better school education, the economy and rural areas, the FDP wants to re-enter the state parliament in June.

In all three areas, the black-red-green state government has left "considerable construction sites" in the past five years, said the top candidate and incumbent state chairman Lydia Hüskens at the presentation of the FDP election program on Friday.

For the school system, the Liberals propose, among other things, the establishment of so-called talent schools in their almost 70-page election program.

Such a school is to be set up in every district of the country and to test how the educational opportunities can be decoupled from the social origins of the students.

In addition, the FDP wants to expand support for the gifted and promote the digitization of schools.

The top priority, however, is the upturn in the economy, said Andreas Silbersack, who ranks second on the list for the FDP.

"Specifically, we are committed to reducing bureaucracy, simplifying procurement law and promoting business start-ups," said Silbersack.

The FDP also wants to focus more on the concerns of the rural parts of the country, for example by expanding the road network and digital infrastructure beyond the cities.

Many farmers and people from rural areas felt no longer taken by politics, said Hüskens.

In the state elections in 2016, the party just failed to pass the 5 percent hurdle.
