The citizens' initiative “Volksentscheid Berlin car-free” wants to drastically reduce car traffic in downtown Berlin.
The initiators propose that Berliners may only use a car privately twelve times a year in a designated area.
Henner Schmidt, infrastructure policy spokesman for the FDP in Berlin, thinks this is the wrong approach and suggests alternatives.
