Offenburg (dpa) - In the process of the "ranger from Oppenau" and his spectacular escape with police weapons in the Black Forest, a verdict is due today.

The public prosecutor's office accused the 32-year-old Yves R. of being hostage-taking in a minor case and assaulting law enforcement officers - and called for three years and nine months in prison.

In July 2020, the defendant disarmed four police officers while checking a forest hut in the Black Forest that he had illegally lived in and fled into the forest with their service weapons.

The police were looking for him with a large number.

The arrest was not made until five days later in a bush near Oppenau.

R., with a multiple criminal record, injured a SEK officer on the foot with an ax.
