China News Agency, Paris, February 18 (Reporter Li Yang) The four foreign ministers’ meeting of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States was held in Paris on the 18th local time.

The meeting focused on the Iranian nuclear issue. After the meeting, a joint statement by the four foreign ministers was issued, giving positive comments on the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

  French Foreign Minister Le Drian presided over the meeting. German Foreign Minister Maas and British Foreign Secretary Raab attended the meeting in Paris, and US Secretary of State Brinken attended the meeting via video.

In a joint statement issued by the four foreign ministers after the meeting, France, Germany, Britain and the United States emphasized that the four countries have common security interests in maintaining the nuclear non-proliferation system and ensuring that Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons.

  The statement said that the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue is an important achievement of multilateral diplomacy. France, Germany and the United Kingdom welcome the United States' intention to resume diplomatic contact with Iran, and welcome the United States to resume in-depth dialogue with France, Germany and Britain.

  The statement stated that the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Britain and the United States confirmed that they will continue to consult and coordinate with China and Russia on the Iranian nuclear issue, and welcome the high-level EU foreign affairs representative to play a corresponding role.

  The statement stated that France, Germany, Britain, and the United States have confirmed their common goal, which is to see Iran fully comply with its commitments under the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken stated that, as U.S. President Biden said, if Iran resumes strict compliance with its commitments under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue, the United States will do the same and is ready to start discussions with Iran to achieve related goals.

  France, Germany, Britain and the United States called on Iran not to take any further actions.

The four foreign ministers reiterated their full support for the professional and fair actions of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and worked hard to ensure necessary verification of Iran’s nuclear commitments under the framework of the Iran nuclear agreement.

  Iranian President Rouhani said on the 17th that Iran would not accept the renegotiation of the Iran nuclear agreement and urged the United States to lift sanctions on Iran as soon as possible and return to the Iran nuclear agreement.

He also stated that Iran has no intention of manufacturing and using nuclear weapons.

  In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany.

According to the agreement, Iran promised to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.
