Berlin / Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon FDP member of the Bundestag Torsten Herbst has asked the state government to introduce waiting lists for those willing to be vaccinated.

"This allows those eligible for vaccination to book appointments online or via a call center as soon as they are notified of free capacities," said Herbst on Friday.

Given that vaccination centers are still underutilized, the state should do everything possible to accelerate the rate of vaccination with existing vaccine stocks.

With a first vaccination rate of 3.6 percent, the Free State is still below the national average.

According to the German Red Cross, more than 2500 vaccination appointments were free in Saxony this week.

Accordingly, there were problems in administering the Astrazeneca product, which is not approved for people over 65, to medical staff and outpatient nurses.

"We suspect that this target group is not yet sufficiently informed that there are free dates for them," said a DRK spokesman.
