Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Thuringian FDP parliamentary group has criticized the extension of the lockdown until mid-March.

“Until yesterday, the State Chancellery said that the current pandemic measures were limited to March 8th.

Now the state government has taken the Thuringians by surprise with an early extension of the lockdown, ”said FDP parliamentary group leader Thomas Kemmerich on Friday.

According to the state government, the new ordinance was chosen to be valid until March 15, so that the state parliament can be appropriately involved in new decisions.

The ordinance came into force on Friday.

The background to this is that, according to current plans, the heads of government of the federal and state governments want to discuss how to deal with the corona pandemic in one slot on March 3.

In the past, the corona rules in Thuringia were often adjusted according to the resolutions after such switching.

For several months now, the state parliament has also been involved - it should be able to make non-binding suggestions for changes.

However, with this participation, it takes more time to get a new regulation off the ground.

Kemmerich argued: "It would have been easy for the state government to only assess the situation at the beginning of March on the basis of the then existing infection and to decide on a possible extension of the lockdown."

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health had already emphasized on Thursday that the period of validity could be shortened at any time if necessary.
