Berlin (dpa / bb) - The FDP calls for the immediate opening of the driving schools, which were closed in the corona lockdown, as well as the boat and flight schools in Berlin.

Since such facilities in Brandenburg are allowed to continue to open subject to conditions, there is a competitive disadvantage for the Berlin providers, said FDP parliamentary group leader Sebastian Czaja of the German press agency.

"Especially in view of the higher incidence in Brandenburg than in Berlin, this ban is incomprehensible," he said.

"In addition, driving schools were open during the first lockdown in Berlin, and there was no evidence that this contributed to the infection."

That is why it is important to create “equal conditions” between Berlin and Brandenburg.

In an application for the session of the House of Representatives next Thursday, the FDP is calling for a corresponding change to the Berlin Infection Protection Ordinance.

Driving, boat and flight schools must be made possible to reopen to the public and to offer practical and theoretical lessons in compliance with hygiene requirements.

The incidence, i.e. the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, was 53.7 in Berlin on Wednesday.

Brandenburg reported an incidence value of 67.8 on Thursday.
