Ostereistedt (dpa) - The Easter Bunny Post Office in the village of Ostereistedt in Lower Saxony is looking forward to tens of thousands of children's letters from all over the world this spring.

The post office with the address Hanni Hase, Am Waldrand 12, 27404 Ostereistedt will open next Monday (February 22nd), as the Deutsche Post announced on Friday.

17 volunteers respond to the letters and pictures they have painted.

If you write by March 29th, you can be sure that the answer from the Easter Bunny will arrive before Easter (April 4th).

The Easter Bunny Post Office opens for the second year despite the corona pandemic.

“Our traditional letter writing campaign is particularly valuable at this demanding time for many families,” said Frank Schmidt, the responsible branch manager of Deutsche Post DHL in Bremen.

"Children write happy, but also thoughtful lines and get an answer from Ostereistedt."

The children were already at home last year because of Corona and Hanni Hase received a record number of 59,000 letters.

The letters are not only arriving from Germany in bags.

They also come a long way from countries like the USA, Russia or Taiwan.

The aim of the campaign, which has been held since 1982, is to maintain and promote the tradition of writing letters.
