19 February 2021 An extraordinary meeting of the Conference of Regions will be held on Saturday 20 February to take stock of the situation of the Covid-19 emergency.

This is due to the spread of variants of the virus and to address the issue of pandemic management and the system of rules in view of the expiry of the stop to the movement between the Regions on February 25 and the Dpcm on the divisions in colors on March 5.

The meeting is scheduled for 5 pm

Stefano Bonaccini

, governor of Emilia Romagna and president of the Conference of Regions, spoke of the need to "evaluate homogeneous restrictions for the whole country for a few weeks" for the purpose of containing the pandemic and with the arrival of the variants proposes to question and review the system of the color zones.

According to Bonaccini, the color zone system "had its validity, which we shared with the Government in the previous months but now I have the impression that, with the arrival of the variants, a different assessment must be made".

For Bonaccini, the road to a new lockdown "is not viable".

For

Giovanni Toti

, president of the Liguria Region and councilor for health, an alarmist approach to the problem does not help anyone.

"Personally, I am in favor of a system that allows for greater flexibility in the measures on the territory, with if anything the establishment of red, orange, yellow and even white areas even of different sizes from the regional ones - he said - If we then decide on national measures it will be a different approach, on which we can discuss ".
