Dresden / Berlin (dpa / sn) - The number of new corona infections in Saxony is currently almost unchanged.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) showed a seven-day incidence of 66 for the Free State on Friday.

The previous day the value was 66.2, last Friday 71. It indicates the number of new infections within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants.

Nationwide, the incidence on Thursday was 56.8.

The city of Leipzig continues to have the lowest new infection rate in Saxony at 35.6.

In the neighboring districts of Leipzig (114.7) and Northern Saxony (103.7), however, the value is much higher.

The Vogtlandkreis recorded the highest value nationwide at 141.6.

According to the RKI, the city of Chemnitz is below the 50 mark for incidence in Saxony with 44.2, just above the state capital Dresden with 50.3.

189 534 corona cases have been registered in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

7351 people died of or with an infection.
