Frenchman Mathieu Faivre became world champion in giant slalom on Friday at the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy), his second gold medal at his Worlds after his parallel title on Tuesday.

Faivre, 29, took advantage of his compatriot and long-time favorite Alexis Pinturault, the fastest time of the first round, to take advantage of the Italian Luca De Aliprandini by 63/100 and the Austrian Marco Schwarz by 87/100. .
