Mainz (dpa / lrs) - In Rhineland-Palatinate, almost 40,000 people are expected to receive their first or second vaccination against Corona in the coming week.

As the Ministry of Health announced on Friday, a total of 27,651 initial vaccinations are planned in the vaccination centers, care facilities and integration aid facilities.

10 895 people from Rhineland-Palatinate are to receive their second spades.

In addition, around 1,900 doses of vaccine are to be delivered to nine hospitals in the coming week, to be administered to employees of the group with the highest priority.

By Monday at the latest, around 20,000 people over 80 years of age who had already registered for a vaccination should have received their invitations to the appointments for their first and second vaccinations by post and, if the address is stored, also by e-mail.

The first vaccinations will take place between March 1st and 7th.

"I am very happy that we can offer so many other older people from Rhineland-Palatinate a specific vaccination appointment," said Health Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler.

"I know how eagerly they and their families are waiting for this important offer."

According to the information (as of Thursday), Rhineland-Palatinate is still in the top group of federal states with almost 290,000 vaccinations - almost 170,000 first vaccinations and a good 120,000 second vaccinations.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) shows Rhineland-Palatinate as the third fastest federal state in terms of the quota of the first vaccinated population, and the country is in first place in terms of the quota of second vaccinations.

These values showed that “the country's vaccination strategy is successful and reliable,” said the minister.
