Against the background of statements that many considered offensive to the people of Upper Egypt in southern Egypt, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Office decided to suspend Tamer Amin's media program that he presents on Al-Nahar TV until he is summoned and interrogated next Sunday, against the background of his statements about the people of Upper Egypt.

The Council stressed the need to maximize behavioral and moral values, and affirmed full respect for the people of Upper Egypt who represent magnanimity, chivalry and manhood, according to a statement issued by the government council responsible for supervising the media.

In an official statement, Al-Nahar Channels Network announced its apology to all the people of Upper Egypt and its countryside, after it described it as an "unintended mistake", which came in the program "The End of the Day" by Tamer Amin, while talking about facing the increase in population in Egypt.

The network said that "the people of Upper Egypt in southern Egypt and the people of the countryside in Lower Egypt in northern Egypt, with its men and women, are the strength of this nation, and that the symbols of Egypt throughout history have come from this medicinal land, and they have had great fingerprints in all fields."

A state of anger swept over social networking sites in Egypt after the media, close to the regime, Tamer Amin, attacked the people of Upper Egypt and the countryside, while commenting on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s talk about the high rate of population increase in Egypt.

Amin said, "In the countryside and Upper Egypt, in a very large percentage, they succeed (procreate) boys and girls, not because they are spent on them, nor because they can enter education, they learn and take a degree, grow up, be employed and have job opportunities. And the first when he has so many years left, his archer (sends him) on a workshop. "

Amin continued his speech, "Gali medicine (gave birth to) the girl of Haghul, we will not go to school. No, the first for the remaining 8 years I ship to Cairo and Alexandria works as a housemaid."

Amin's speech sparked a wave of anger on the communication sites between politicians and activists, because it included an insult to the people of the countryside and Upper Egypt, as well as videos of citizens responding to what they described as the rejected insult.

We said a million times they will leave Upper Egypt in the event that you keep your dogs away from it. You want to say the increase in housing is the reason, because you are attached to it. You disappointed in your comfort, but move away from Upper Egypt. If you do not rise, the genie will not rise again. Move your dogs away from Upper Egypt and its people # Tamer_amen

In the first move to hold journalist Tamer Amin accountable for insulting the people of Upper Egypt and the countryside, Khaled Abu Nahoul, the Egyptian parliamentarian for the governorate of Qena, announced that he had submitted a briefing request to Minister of State for Information Usama Heikal, regarding the media's use of terms and words offensive to a large faction of the Egyptian people, as he emphasized Deputy Yasser Omar, deputy of Assiut, submitted a request to be informed of the Prime Minister and the Supreme Council for Media because of the same statements.

Representative Ibrahim Nazeer, a member of the House of Representatives from Assiut, called for the immediate suspension of Tamer Amin's program because it insulted all villages in Egypt, not just Upper Egypt, and stressed the need for the Supreme Council for Media to take measures to stop the program and hold the broadcaster accountable because what he did threatens societal peace and violates the principle of citizenship and equality approved by the constitution.

The Upper Egypt Youth Coalition issued a statement today, Friday, rejecting what Tamer Amin said about young men and women in Upper Egypt, describing him as a servant.

In its statement published on its official Facebook page, the coalition called on the Supreme Council for Media to take all legal measures against the offending media and to draft a code of honor that guarantees fair media treatment for all categories of Egyptians.

The coalition made it clear that a report would be submitted to the Attorney General against these abuses.

For his part, Tamer Amin, after stopping his program, went out to apologize to all the people of Upper Egypt, stressing that his intention is good, and the aim of his speech is the public interest, and that what hurts him most is to anger one person from the people of Upper Egypt, and that he is one of the most believers in Upper Egypt, the pride of the same level and the dignity of Upper Egypt. And that Upper Egypt is the origin of Egypt, and it is the one who produced most of the stats, thinkers and writers.

He added that he did not intend to insult at all, and said, "For every level and Upper Egypt your boots are on my head from above, and I am a son of Upper Egypt and my lineage is from Upper Egypt and I have the honor of this, even if one is upset, I say you have a right to me."
