Berlin (dpa / lby) - The company Unidex BV has recalled the product “Zena Moringa Powder”.

There is a risk of salmonella in it, it said on Thursday.

The product was sold in Bavaria.

Moringa powder is made from the leaves of the Moringa tree, which is originally native to the Himalayan region.

Moringa is considered a superfood.

The powder can be used to make tea, and it can also be mixed into mueslis or smoothies.

Salmonella disease manifests itself within a few days after infection with diarrhea, abdominal pain and occasionally vomiting and a slight fever.

The symptoms usually subside on their own after a few days.

Infants, toddlers, seniors and people with a weakened immune system can develop more severe disease courses.

People who have eaten this food and develop severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and alert them of possible salmonella infection, it said.
