Fischbach (dpa / lrs) - After the explosion of a log in the chimney of a residential building in the Palatinate, investigators are examining a wood storage facility in Fischbach (Kaiserslautern district) for possible further booby traps.

The police began in the morning with the help of a mobile X-ray device from the Federal Criminal Police Office to x-ray a pile of firewood piece by piece, as the West Palatinate police headquarters announced on Thursday.

According to the investigation, the log that exploded in Otterberg on February 12 came from Fischbach.

In the incident, a woman was slightly injured by a flying stove.

The police do not rule out a connection to a landscape gardener who died two years ago.

The 59-year-old horticultural entrepreneur set booby traps on people with whom he was in dispute.

He also killed a 64-year-old doctor.

The examination of the pile of wood in Fischbach should be completed on Thursday.

Emergency services from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office and the Police Headquarters, Operations, Logistics and Technology support the action of the Kaiserslautern Police Department.

A special dog had already searched the pile in the past few days but found nothing suspicious.

Now, as a precaution, each piece should be x-rayed with the BKA's x-ray machine.
