Munich (dpa) - FC Bayern Munich has the next Corona case in its professional team.

Defender Benjamin Pavard has tested positive for the corona virus, as the German soccer champions confirmed on Thursday.

Several media reported this on Wednesday evening without citing the source.

According to the club, the French international is in quarantine at home.

The 24-year-old “is fine”, it said in the short message.

Pavard will be absent for the league leaders initially on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in the Bundesliga top game at Eintracht Frankfurt and three days later in the first knockout round of the Champions League at Lazio Rome.

In addition to the defender, Thomas Müller is currently still in domestic isolation after a positive corona test during the Club World Cup in Qatar.

The 31-year-old attacking player is expected to miss the Frankfurt and Rome games as well.

After all, midfielders Leon Goretzka and Javi Martínez will be available for coach Hansi Flick for the first time again at the weekend in Frankfurt after having survived corona infections.
