Erfurt (dpa / th) - The president of the Thuringian State Medical Association, Ellen Lundershausen, has warned against fundamentally questioning the effectiveness of the Astrazeneca's corona vaccine.

This would be a devastating signal, explained Lundershausen.

All corona vaccines previously approved in the EU are "important building blocks on our way out of the pandemic".

She pointed out that minor side effects are normal after vaccination and that the Astrazeneca vaccine has been used successfully in the UK for several weeks.

From the point of view of the State Medical Association, all possibilities should be used “to accelerate the vaccination process”.

This also includes enabling corona vaccinations in medical practices as quickly as possible.

"This is the only way to achieve the vaccination goal in the foreseeable future," explained Lundershausen.

The Astrazeneca vaccine is at least 70 percent less effective than the agents from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna - based on the number of people who were vaccinated in studies compared to those who were not vaccinated.
