To "rethink the role of social partners", Medef wants to open a dialogue with all employers' organizations and trade unions and offers them a reflection on eight priority subjects, such as labor court justice, professional training or social mobility in businesses.

The president of Medef, Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, made this proposal in a letter sent on Tuesday to unions and other employers' organizations.

Adapt to "profound changes"

The social partners must rethink "the role of social democracy in the democratic life of the country", he defends in this text.

He highlights the context of the "crisis of confidence of the French" vis-à-vis the constituted bodies and which does not spare the social partners, as well as the "profound changes" of the economic environment, with the climate challenge. , new technologies and their impact on employment.

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux also points to “the increasing importance of the role that the State intends to play in the economic and social legislation of the world of work, without always ensuring perfect consultation between all the stakeholders”.

Faced with these constraints, Medef thus proposes "to initiate a project on a series of concrete subjects, which shows that social dialogue is useful, that joint action can be renewed", taking the example of the agreements signed recently on teleworking and occupational health.

Eight priority topics

This proposal emerges as the government launched a "social agenda" at the last social dialogue conference held last summer.

This agenda, which defines 17 subjects for reflection, "is absolutely not realistic", defended Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux Thursday during a meeting with the press organized by the Association of economic and financial journalists (Ajef).

The organization has identified eight priority subjects: professional training, through an assessment of the 2018 law, labor courts, the establishment of a joint body to manage the Workplace Accident / Illness branch. professional development, governance of parity and social protection groups, and modernization of paritarism.

Beyond the functioning of joint action, Medef offers its partners to reflect on the subjects of social mobility in the professional world, artificial intelligence and its impact on employment and finally the climate transition in companies.
