Kassel (dpa) - In the second Bundesliga game of 2021, the handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig suffered their first defeat.

At MT Melsungen, coach André Haber's team lost 28:31 (14:12) on Thursday evening.

The best Leipzig thrower was the international Philipp Weber, who is moving to Magdeburg for the new season, with ten goals.

Inspired by the latest success at Bergischer HC (30:29), the Leipzig team started confidently and, thanks to their variable attack game, earned a small cushion of goals in the middle of the first half (10: 6).

A weak phase shortly before and after the break, during which the Leipzigers failed to score for almost ten minutes, brought the hosts back into the game.

An open exchange of blows provided tension right into the final phase.

Marc Esche equalized for Leipzig for the last time to 27:27 seven minutes before the end, before the guests succeeded almost nothing in the attack.

Felix Danner finally brought about the final decision for the Melsungers with the goal to 31:28 76 seconds before the end.
