Berlin (dpa) - After a good eleven weeks injury break, Max Kruse is ready for a comeback at 1. FC Union Berlin.

As coach Urs Fischer confirmed on Thursday, the 32-year-old should be part of the squad for the Bundesliga game at SC Freiburg.

"It would be possible," said Fischer about a deployment of the offensive star on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) in Breisgau.

"If a player is available, he has absolute approval, otherwise I wouldn't say it like that," noted the Union coach.

Kruse had torn a muscle bundle in the derby at Hertha BSC (1: 3) in early December.

On Tuesday, he had passed the last medical checks for the comeback.

However, after the long break, Kruse is not expected in the starting line-up.

According to Fischer, it is still open whether Andreas Luthe will return to the Union-Tor after his break in Freiburg for private reasons.

A decision may be made before leaving on Friday.

Luthe returned to team training on Thursday.

Should he not be available, Loris Karius would probably be the substitute again.

Union Berlin has not been able to win the last five games in the Bundesliga.

Against the strong home from Freiburg, the Berliners have to prepare for a rise in temperature.

After the freezing temperatures in the capital, temperatures of up to 18 degrees Celsius are expected on matchday in Freiburg.

"It's not that easy, it makes a difference," said Fischer.
