Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed by phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin a number of pressing regional and international issues.

The Turkish presidency said that it was stressed that resolving the Syrian crisis as soon as possible is in everyone's interest, and added that it was agreed not to waste the opportunity that arose to achieve peace and stability in Libya.

For its part, the Kremlin said that the call renewed its commitment to fighting terrorism in Syria, discussing the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone, and supporting the political process, including the Astana formula.

The Kremlin indicated that the contact between Putin and Erdogan stressed the importance of forming a transitional executive authority in Libya with the help of the United Nations.

The contact also touched on the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh region, in the context of the existing agreements on settlement in the region and the Russian-Turkish coordination in the interest of the social and economic development of the region.

The Turkish president stressed that more joint efforts must be made in all fields to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire, calling for tripartite cooperation to rehabilitate the road network in the region.

During the call, the two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the start of the work of the Russian-Turkish Joint Center for Supervising the Ceasefire System in Karabakh.
